Pink Beach: Less Crowded, More Soul
Zulaika 02 Liveaboard gave us access to Komodo’s quieter corners, which is rare these days. We arrived at Pink Beach sebelum 8 pagi—before the day boats—and it felt like we had the island to ourselves. The sand really does have that rosy tint, dan when the sun hits at mid-morning, it glows. As part of a dive group, we focused on sites with strong currents, and the captain’s knowledge of tidal patterns was impressive. One afternoon, we anchored near Gili Lawa Darat, and the wall dive there had schools of barracuda and white tip reef sharks—adrenaline rush in the best way. The boat’s layout feels intimate—only 5 cabins, so no拥挤. I stayed in the master suite, and the ensuite bathroom has real hot water pressure, which is a win. Only critique: the dive deck could use one more rinse tank for cameras. Tapi semua dive gear diperlakukan with care. Crew selalu offering fresh coconut or cold towel setelah dive—small gesture, big impact. This isn’t just a trip; it’s a curated journey.

The deck layout allows easy access for gear setup, dan crew sangat supportive—they even helped me stabilize my tripod during sunrise at Pink Beach. Warna pasirnya pink-nya subtle tapi real, dan contrast dengan birunya laut bikin composition jadi sangat dynamic. We also did a drift shoot at Manta Point, and capturing those mantas in motion was challenging tapi rewarding. Tapi overall, the balance between comfort and functionality is on point. Evening briefings with the guide so informative—dia tahu exactly where the light will hit setiap spot. Puas banget.

Sunrise di Gili Lawa itu Worth the Wake-Up Call
The vibe onboard is so relaxed tapi tetap profesional, perfect untuk team bonding. We anchored at Gili Lawa utara, and waking up to that sunrise—soft golden light hitting the ridge—rasanya seperti di painting. Later, we stopped by Manta Point, and the mantas were just gliding like they owned the ocean. Sangat surreal. Satu-satunya thing: WiFi cuma available di certain spots and agak inconsistent. Tapi to be fair, we were in Komodo—disconnecting itu bagian dari healing. Makanan? Kalau bisa, tambahin satu day trip ke Manjarite, I’d love to explore the caves more slowly.

Trip ini saya ambil setelah burnout kerja, dan the slow rhythm of sailing between islands was exactly what I needed. We hiked Padar Island pagi hari—view dari atas itu cinematic banget, like something you’d see on a travel magazine cover. The crew helped me set up a quiet spot on deck for journaling every evening. I spent a lot of time at Kanawa Island too, just floating above the coral gardens. The silence underwater, interrupted only by your breath—it’s meditative. One thing I noticed: the lower deck cabin near the engine has slight vibration at night, tapi honestly, it didn’t bother my sleep much. What stood out is how the staff anticipates needs—towel sudah siap setelah diving, teh jahe hangat offered saat sunset. It’s the little details. As a solo guest, I never felt out of place. Justru, dinner conversations with other guests felt organic, not forced. Would come back just for the calm.
Corporate Escape that Actually Recharges
Our leadership team needed a reset, so we booked Zulaika 02 Liveaboard for a 5-day corporate retreat. The absence of city noise, emails, and meetings created space for real conversation. We anchored near Gili Lawa Laut for two nights—waking up to that view, with the sun rising behind the hills, set the tone for reflection. Team building here didn’t feel forced; it happened organically—whether it was helping fold sails or sharing stories over grilled fish dinner. We also visited Pink Beach, and while it got busier by noon, the morning was peaceful. One thing for improvement: the meeting corner on deck could use better shade—great for brainstorming, tapi panas kalau pas tengah hari. The staff, however, were on it—always bringing cold drinks or moving mats to shaded areas. Food quality was consistently high, and the manager even accommodated a gluten-free diet without fuss. This wasn’t just a getaway; it was strategic recharging. I’d bring the board here next time.

First stop: Kanawa Island. Coral condition di sana masih pristine, dan the diversity of fish—it’s like swimming in an aquarium. I’m not a hardcore diver, tapi snorkeling here feels just as immersive. Crew member named Adi selalu ready dengan extra fins atau life vest, very attentive. We also spent a morning at Manjarite, exploring the limestone formations. The shallow cave? Only minor thing: I wish we had one more hour at Pink Beach, karena crowd dari day-trip boats mulai datang siang hari. Tapi overall, the pacing was thoughtful. Sailing at dusk with a cold Bintang? That’s the real luxury.

Manta Point: Dance with the Giants
Saya datang sebagai solo traveler, but the energy onboard made it feel like joining a close-knit group. Zulaika 02 Liveaboard has that rare balance—luxury without pretense. We spent two days around Manta Point, and being in the water with those gentle giants was humbling. They circled us like they were curious, and the water visibility was insane—over 30 meters. Snorkeling di sana jadi highlight, tapi saya juga surprised by how much I enjoyed sunset at Padar Island, just sitting on the bow with a cup of ginger tea. The food? Sangat thoughtfully prepared—local ingredients dengan modern twist, like seared skipjack with tamarind glaze. Kabin saya cozy, tapi I noticed the fan noise at night is a bit louder when engine running. Tapi again, not a dealbreaker. What I appreciated most is the eco-conscious approach—no single-use plastic, and crew actively avoid anchoring on coral. It feels responsible, not just luxurious. If I could, I’d extend to 8 days—there’s still so much to see.
Kanawa Island: Simplicity in Perfection
Joining a photography expedition on Zulaika 02 Liveaboard was a dream come true. We started at Kanawa Island, and I must say—the simplicity of that atoll, with its white sand spit extending into turquoise water, is postcard material. I shot the same scene at three different times of day, dan each had its own mood. The crew allowed flexible timing, which is rare. We also did a sunrise shoot at Padar Island—hiking in the dark with headlamps, then watching the valley light up below. Magical doesn’t do it justice. Boat-wise, everything is well-kept—my cabin had ample storage, and blackout curtains made for deep sleep. One small note: the USB ports in cabins are only 5W, so charging multiple devices takes time. But again, we were in nature—no complaints. The guide knew hidden spots, like a quiet cove near Manjarite where we had the entire beach. Dinners were long, leisurely affairs—grilled seafood, good conversation, local wine. This trip didn’t just feed my portfolio—it fed my soul.
