Som nyligt tilbage fra Athira Phinisi, er det svært at finde ord, der rammer præcist. Vi – min søn, hans kone og vores to børnebørn (7 og 9) – tog turen som en multi-generation family escape. At være 20 gæster maksimalt gør en forskel; ingen trængsel, bare ro og rum. Vi startede ved Rinca Island, hvor vi så komodo-dragonene fra sikker afstand – børnebørnene var fascinerede, men ikke bange takket være den professionelle guide. Senere på dagen nåede vi Castle Rock – her var vandet så klart, at det føltes som at svømme i akvarium. Måske den bedste snorkelplads vi har prøvet nogensinde. Min eneste bemærkning? Standard Cabin var fint, men ikke helt på niveau med Master Suite – nogle detaljer i træværket kunne have været mere polished. Dog: maden var konsekvent excellent, især den friske grilled mahi-mahi en aften med citronkrydder. Det er ikke bare en cruise – det er et flow-state, hvor man mærker, at hver pause, hver ankerplads, hver tur er sat i tempo. Kun 4 dage, men det føltes som en uge i det rigtige tempo.

Vi valgte Athira Phinisi for vores 10-års anniversary, og det var en af de mest velovervejede beslutninger nogensinde. Med 25,7 meter og kun syv cabiner føles det som en privat charter – især når man får sin morning coffee på verandaen i Master Suite, mens vi lå for anker ved Sebayur Island. Børnene (12 og 15) elskede snorkling ved Crystal Rock, hvor vandet klart var så ren, at vores guide faktisk fik os til at se en pygmæ-krokodille under overfladen. Det er ikke nogle standard family trips – det her er en rigtig itinerar-planlagt rejse med finesse. Crewet var diskret, men altid præsent; de arrangerede en lille candlelit dinner på dækket en aften, hvilket føltes ekstremt personal. Eneste lille ting: wifi var lidt spotty, men det var måske lige så godt – vi endte med at spille brætspil og tale for en gangs skyld. Havnede også på Long Beach, hvor vi tog en drone shot, som nu hænger som frame i vores entré. Måske havde vi ønsket én ekstra dag – fire nætter gik alt for hurtigt.

Le voyage à Wae Rebo, combiné à la navigation sur l’Athira Phinisi, fut une immersion totale. Monter jusqu’au village traditionnel, puis redescendre vers le bateau ancré dans une baie isolée — ce contraste entre culture et nature était puissant. Le guide local, originaire de la région, a partagé des histoires orales qui m’ont profondément touchée. Le bateau, bien que de 2018, est entretenu comme un yacht neuf — chaque détail compte. Ma cabine, standard en nom mais pas en qualité, offrait un confort remarquable. Le dîner de poisson frais, grillé au feu de bois sur le sable, fut un moment magique. J’aurais aimé une excursion supplémentaire à Sebayur Island — une journée complète aurait été parfaite. Mais le rythme général était bien dosé. Le petit déjeuner avec yaourt maison, miel local et granola artisanal était un délice. Un vrai voyage d’âme, pas juste une escapade.

Saya dan suami memilih Athira Phinisi untuk honeymoon karena privasinya. 7 cabin artinya tidak terlalu crowded, dan crew sangat discrete. Hari kedua dihabiskan di Long Beach — pasirnya lembut, airnya jernih seperti kristal. We had a private dinner setup di pantai, candlelit dengan sound of waves. So romantic. Snorkeling di Wainilu juga mengejutkan; coral-nya vibrant dan ikan-ikan berwarna-warni sangat dekat. Kabin kami, Standard Cabin, ternyata lebih besar dari yang saya bayangkan, dengan AC yang powerful. Hanya saja, shower pressure agak low di hari terakhir — mungkin karena tank air habis. Tapi overall, pengalaman ini exceeded expectations. Komodo Island di hari terakhir memberi kesan wild dan untamed yang pas untuk penutup.

After a grueling quarter, my wife and I needed to disappear. The Athira Phinisi became our floating refuge. We joined a small group charter, but the yacht’s size—25.7 meters with only seven cabins—ensured privacy. Our days were split between Gili Lawa’s coral slopes and the stark beauty of Padar Island’s ridgeline. I’m not a strong swimmer, but the crew patiently guided me through a shallow snorkel at Pink Beach, where the sand’s pink hue comes alive in sunlight. The Master Suite had a king bed positioned to catch the morning light, and the en suite bathroom used rainwater harvesting—a subtle nod to sustainability. Meals were served alfresco, often with views of Komodo Island in the distance. The only drawback? Limited phone signal, but we agreed it was for the best. By day four, we’d stopped reaching for our devices. Instead, we watched flying fish, counted stars, and remembered how to breathe.
